Nigeria Super Eagles Books a Spot in The 2023 AFCON Final

The Super eagles of Nigeria has finally reached the finals of the 2023 African Cup Of Nations after defeating the Bafana Bafana of South Africa 4:2 on penalties.

Nigerian captain, William Troost Ekong put the Super eagles in front in the 67th minute from the penalty spot after Victor Osimhen was fouled in the box.

Nigeria doubled the lead in the closing minutes of the game, but unfortunately, the goal was ruled out after a VAR check due to a foul in the build up to the goal which gave the South Africans a dying minute penalty.

Teboho Mokoena of South Africa was called to duty and did a good job sending the ball to the back of the net from the penalty spot.

The match went to extra time, but despite 30 added minutes, both sides couldn’t break the deadlock. The match ended 1:1 leading to penalties.

At the end of the penalty shootout, Nigeria emerged victorious with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the winning goal.
