Super Eagles Soars High As they Defeat Hosts, Ivory Coast

The Super Eagles of Nigeria had defeated Ivory Coast 1:0 to clinch their first win of the AFCON 2024 campaign.
The match started with Ivory Coast dominating most of the play, creating lots of attempts and chances to score, but couldn’t break the deadlock. The first half of the game then ended goalless.

In the 51st minute of the game, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen went down in the box after being fouled by a defender. The referee didn’t initially blow for a foul, but after being contacted by the video assistant referee [VAR], a penalty was awarded to Nigeria.

Nigeria’s captain, Troost Ekong was called to duty and made no mistake, firing the ball to the back of the net from the penalty spot.
After a series of failed attempts by Ivory Coast to equalize, the match ended 1:0.
