Former US President Donald Trump Shot But Escapes Assassination Attempt
Three-time champion of the African Cup of Nations, Nigeria kicked off their AFCON 2024 campaign today against Equatorial Guinea. But couldn’t prove their worth after just managing to secure a point in the 1:1 draw.
The match began with both sides making close attempts to break each other’s defense, but neither of both teams could capitalize on their chances.
Equatorial Guinea then broke the deadlock in the 36th minute after Jose Machin produced a great pass that found Iban Salvador inside the penalty area, who took advantage of the situation to rifle a shot into the bottom left corner.
Nigeria wasted no time in equalizing just two minutes after conceding, as Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen got on the end of a pass allowing him to finish into an empty net with a close-range header.
Nigeria had a chance to go ahead further into the second half, but the golden opportunity was missed after Victor Osimhen couldn’t capitalize on a through ball, firing the ball off target.
Both sides had lots of chances to win the game, but the match ended a stalemate.
