In Focus: Forests drifts towards safety as City awaits judgment

From Nottingham Forest gradually pulling away from relegation zone to Liverpool getting thumped yet again, and City failing once more at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it’s safe to say that it’s been one heck of a week. Well, just when we thought we’ve had enough to swallow for sometime, more football activities and background gists are beginning to rear their ‘ugly’ heads.

Manchester City are on the verge of being slapped with what could be a damaging ban should the Club lawyers not put in decent words. The Etihad outfit have been found out by the FA and this time on the grounds of breaching the FFP rules. Albeit the extent of their financial misfortune could warrant a massive point deduction or even an expulsion from the top flight altogether, nothing has been decided just yet.

In other news, Nottingham Forest seem to be flying at the moment with Brennan Johnson at the heart of everything good for a side courting relegation only some months ago. A couple of wins and some well earned draws here and there has however banished any talks of relegation at the City Ground, mich to the delight of fans and gaffer, Steve Cooper.

At Anfield, the mood isn’t as ebullient as it should. One win in six games in all competitions will definitely do that to anybody, but the manner in which the reds have lost lately has got tongues wagging and brows being raised from all corners.

An ugly defeat to Brighton followed by a nebulous and utterly disgusting loss to mid-table outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers easily sums up what has become of Liverpool this season. They host Merseyside rivals Everton up next and this match might just go on to determine Klopp’s future at the Club.

Whatever happens from here, prying eyes are keenly fixed on City, Liverpool and perhaps Chelsea who spent quite a fortune only to play out a disappointing draw against Fulham in their last outing.
