For the bibliophiles: It’s World Ola Rotimi’s day.

Did you know that today, the 13th of April is Ola Rotimi’s birthday?

His books made most of our secondary school at least the OG’s know this.

Even still in our adult life, with interests in the paperback novels being regurgitated in an aim to connect with our roots, among many others here are a few books by the novelist.

1. The Gods are not to blame

Ola Rotimi wrote The Gods Are Not to Blame, a play in 1968 and a novel in 1971. The story, based on the Greek classic Oedipus Rex, revolves around Odewale, who is lulled into a false sense of security only to become entangled in a somewhat consanguineous trail of events by the gods of the land.

2. Our husbands have gone mad again

In this play, the award-winning noted playwright takes a comedic swipe at ideological misfits and opportunists who strut the ever-accommodating political landscape of contemporary Africa.

3. Kurumi

It is a historical play about the war between Ibadan and Ijaiye. Kurumi is an ijaiye warlord who declares war on Ibadan and the Alaafin of Oyo.
