It’s so annoying how you spend hours twisting, stretching, picking, and pulling to get every single curl to to a point on your face or even shoulder then imagine the audacity of the hair to retreat to your roots as soon as it dries. One of the questions I ask, Is shrinkage something I should be bothered about?
Naturally I think yes because I am a human being who would like her hair long and beautiful but I did some research and here is what I found out.
1.Shrinkage is natural for women with textured hair, and the tighter the curl, the more shrinkage you will experience. Some only have 20% to 30% shrinkage while others can have as much as 75%. I believe I am part of the 75 percentage.
2.Shrinkage isn’t a sign of unhealthy hair. In fact, it’s what makes your hair texture curly. Well this is encouraging.
3. If you do want to lessen your shrinkage, changing some habits in your curly hair routine can save you time later in your regimen.
4.Certain ingredients also decrease shrinkage, such as flaxseed, bamboo milk, shea butter and mango butter.
5.You can try a few hairstyles like threading, twists outs and bantu nuts.
