Tokyo Olympics: Ese secures Nigeria’s first medal

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics is still ongoing, albiet it’s only a few more days before it gets done and dusted. However, after what has been a below par display from the country’s representatives so far, Nigeria finally clinched her first medal at the sporting event.

Long jumper, Ese Brume has managed to raise the green white green a litrle bit as she got hold of the bronze medal in the final event of the women long jump.

The Nigerian fell 0.3 short of Germany’s Malaika Mihambo’s who leapfrogged her with a 7.00m jump to secure the gold medal in the round.

Recall that Brume has remained the only representative for Nigeria in the jumps since Ruth Usoro got disqualified, and after a topsy turvy showing by the country’s representatives since the start of the athletics event, this third place finish could well be the silver lining so far.
