The Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB gist

Nnamdi Okwu Kanu, according to Wikipedia, is a Nigerian pro-Biafra political activist, who is also a British citizen. He is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra. Kanu founded IPOB in 2014

The separatist, who was granted bail in April 2017, fled the country after the invasion of his home in Afara-Ukwu, near Umuahia, Abia State, by the military in September.

He practically ran away, hence making his trials on the charges of treasonable felony to be stalled.

Kanu was subsequently brought before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday where the judge ordered an accelerated hearing in the matter.

Before he jumped bail in 2017, Kanu was facing 11 charges including terrorism, treasonable felony, managing an unlawful society, publication of defamatory matter, illegal possession of firearms and improper importation of goods.

He had over 50 lawyers representing him at court.
