Tokyo 2021 Olympics: Let the games begin

The Tokyo 2021 Olympics’ flame came alive many hours ago, and country represatives look to start doing flames as much as possible. The opening ceremony was a beautiful sight to behold, but even more beauty awaits viewers across the globe as contestants go at each other at this 24th edition of the sporting event.

This year’s opening event of the athletic competition didn’t quite live up to the billing as it usually would. Well, there were no fans, so the usual elation, joy and pure ecstacy was amiss, however the fireworks and electric display somewhat filled in to a reasonable extent, and hopefully the competition itself would thrill everyone to huge measure for the next two weeks.

In the meantime, below are a few things you should know about this year’s Olympics games…

• No spectators would be allowed at this year’s Olympics games in Tokyo, Japan.

• About 205 nations, and 11,326 athletes would be gracing the Tokyo Olympics games.

• Nigeria would be participating in the artistic gymnastics event at the Olympics for the first time ever, with Uche Eke representing the country.

• The event which kick started yesterday would be wrapped up on the 8th of August, 2021.

So, there you have it. Quick fire things you might not know about the Tokyo Olympics 2021 before now.
