2021 Grammy Awards: Burna boy and Wizkid flying the African flag

It was a very swell weekend in the Nigerian entertainment industry as two of her finest artistes clinched the highly coveted Grammy awards. The 2021 Grammy awards which took place at Olympia blvd, Santa Monica in California was all shades of finesse, as Starboy Wizkid and Burna boy got recognized for their efforts in the musical sphere.

Burna boy got his name in the history books for winning the award for the Best Global music for “Twice as Tall”, likewise, Wizkid who also clinched the award for the Best music video “Brown skin girl”, and albeit it’s believed that the award might have been won by Beyonce and Jenn Nkiru who directed the video, it’s still pretty safe to say that Wizkid’s efforts was well recognized and he alongside Burna Boy has done well to put Nigeria and Africa on the Global map once again.

Tongues might go wagging, debates might keep flying around coupled with misgivings as to whether Wizzy actually did win the Grammy or not. But quite frankly that is what it is and nothing would change that reality.
