Portuguese international, Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently playing for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, has criticized Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, saying his approach is too negative.
Ronaldo, who left United in late 2022 after disagreements with Ten Hag, believes the club needs big changes but should still aim to win major trophies like the Premier League and Champions League.
Ronaldo said these in an upcoming episode of the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast. He pointed out that while Manchester United needs to “rebuild from the bottom,” that shouldn’t stop them from competing for big titles.
Ten Hag, who has won the League Cup and FA Cup with United, admitted earlier this year that the team is not yet ready to win the Premier League, a title they haven’t won since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013. But, Ronaldo disagrees with this mindset and feels the team should always aim high.
“You can’t say you’re not going to try to win the league or Champions League,” Ronaldo said. “You have to try, no matter what.”
“They know they need to change things,” Ronaldo said. “That’s the only way forward.”
