Education minister Seeks Extension of NYSC to Two Years

Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, has suggested that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) should be extended from one year to two years. He made this suggestion on Friday when the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Akinyemi Nafiu, visited him in Abuja.

This was shared in a post on NYSC’s official Facebook page. The minister also said that the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training for corps members should be improved and expanded, so more youths can learn how to start their own businesses.

Dr. Alausa said more graduate teachers should be posted to rural schools during their service year to help solve the shortage of teachers in those areas.
