The Nigerian super eagles, in a bid to get perfectly set and prepared for the upcoming African Cup of Nations [AFCON] had organized a pre-tournament friendly with fellow African country, Guinea. But things didn’t turn out as expected for the Super Eagles, as they were defeated 2:0 in the Bani Yas stadium in Abu Dhabi.
According to the team’s official handle on X, the Super Eagles conceded the first goal in the 14th minute. But a chance soon came for the Super Eagles in the 19th minute to overturn the deficit after a Super Eagles player, Umar was fouled in the penalty area. Moses Simon was called upon to take the penalty kick, but was denied by the Guinea goalkeeper.
In the 64th minute, Guinea scored the second goal and shattered the Super Eagles dream of an equalizer.
The game ended at 2:0.
The match was the last preparatory match for both sides for the upcoming African Cup of Nations.
