House of Reps Orders NCC to Block All Adult Websites in Nigeria

The House of Representatives has asked the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to stop people in Nigeria from visiting adult websites.

This decision was made on Tuesday after a lawmaker from Katsina State, Dalhatu Tafoki, raised concerns about how these websites affect young people and society. He said watching adult content can lead to bad habits like adultery, prostitution, and addiction.

Tafoki also mentioned that some countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East have already banned these websites. He said psychologists and sociologists have warned that adult content can harm people’s minds and behaviour.

After discussing the issue, lawmakers agreed through a voice vote led by the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas. They said blocking these websites would help protect Nigeria’s culture and moral values.

Now, they want the NCC to make sure internet service providers follow this order. They also warned that any service provider that does not obey should be punished.
