Nigerian singer, songwriter, and Grammy award winner Tems has once again gained international attention as she was nominated for the Best Original Song award at the 2023 Oscars for her song “Lift Me Up” from the movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
As a first-time Oscar nominee, Tems not only grabbed attention with her nomination but also made a bold fashion statement at the event. Her unforgettable outfit featured a puffy white gown and a massive headpiece that covered the back of her head.
Although Tems’ outfit caught a lot of people’s attention on the red carpet, her headpiece sparked controversy on social media, as some attendees at the Dolby Theater, where the Oscars were held, were unhappy that they couldn’t see the stage.
After nearly 24 hours, Tems responded to the critiques with a tweet of her pictures at the Oscars and captioned it “oops.”
Even though there was some controversy surrounding her outfit, Tems’ bold fashion statement is likely to be talked about for a long time to come.
