NIGERIA DECIDES: Don’t Overlook The Legislative Seats

As Nigerians gear up for the 2023 elections tomorrow, there is a tendency for us to focus primarily on the Presidential seat without paying proper attention to other political seats. However, it is important to remember that the seat of the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the House of assembly at the state level should not be overlooked in this election process because they play a major role in the development of the nation.

House of Representatives and Senate seats are important because they are the legislative bodies that make up the National Assembly, the highest law-making body in Nigeria. The National Assembly plays a crucial role in the governance of Nigeria, as it is responsible for making laws, approving the national budget, and overseeing the actions of the Executive branch of government.

The House of Representatives and Senate are composed of elected representatives from each state and constituency in Nigeria. These representatives are responsible for representing the interests of their constituents, and are in a better position to understand the needs and concerns of the constituents.

It is also important to note that the legislative branch of government is not just the National Assembly but also the State Houses of Assembly. These institutions are the closest to the people and have the power to make laws that affect the development of their respective states.

So before you go out to vote tomorrow, check out those who are contesting to represent you at the state and national levels and vote for those who are capable, competent and would give voice to your needs.
