In Focus: Everything football this weekend

There’s perhaps never a better time to be a football lover than now – It’s still only friday, but our weekend has started already. With an array of football fixtures spreading further into midweek, the aforesaid is simply putting it subtly.

Saturday opens up with a mouthwatering London derby between Westham and Chelsea, a fixture that has always promised goals, and some tantrums to spice it up. Away to the Emirates, Arsenal take on a very stubborn Brentford side, but the gunners will be weary and looking to dust off the bees who have proven to be a thorn in the flesh of top sides lately.

Elsewhere, a well knitted Fulham side take on a resurgent Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage, Leicester square up against Spurs, while United travel to Leeds to take on a side they only managed a draw against some days ago.

It doesn’t even end there, Monday night football sees Liverpool clash against Everton in what forthputs to be one of the most anticipated Merseyside derbies in recent times. Liverpool are in a mess lately and this grudge class against a recharged Sean Dyche side who will be buoyed having seen off league leaders Arsenal the last time will see many bloods and sweats at Anfield.

That said, the big boys return to European action as the UEFA Champions league round of 16 and Europa league opens from Tuesday. AC Milan take on Tottenham Hotspurs, while PSG host Munich in what is a tasty fixture.

The blue boys, Chelsea play guest to Borussia Dortmund even as Graham Potter looks to bed in the new recruits. Surprise packages of this year’s competition, Club Brugge vs Benfica is the final fixture of the week before another weekend returns for us to behold.
