In Focus: League matches set to resume after thrilling World Cup

The after taste of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World cup hasn’t quite left our mouths, but it’s actually time to return from traveled thoughts with other pressing matters arising. It’s understandable that topics like Messi and co clinching the highly coveted silverware, Ronaldo probably ruing his not starting against Morocco, a match they went on to lose and subsequently getting dumped out for the tourney, France hoping they could do a back to back thing, and many other juicy thoughts all romped in our heads, but we just need to move on already.

Well, as weird as that sounds, the reality is that the world cup is done and dusted and league matches are gradually closing in on us once again.

The EPL, Spanish La Liga and other European top leagues resume in ten days and we can’t wait for league matches to return to our screens.

In the meantime, we thought to quickly bring you up to speed as regards how we left things before heading to Qatar.

In the EPL, Arsenal still lead the pack, of course, and with a margin of five(5) points between them and City who sit second on the log. Spanish giants, Barcelona also lead in the La Liga with a cushion of two points ahead of their rivals Real Madrid who sit second_ Sevilla, Cardiz and Elche sit in the bottom three while Messi’s PSG, just like Arsenal sit atop the French League with five points with Lens sitting comfortably behind the Parisians.

As it stands, things look smooth for the table toppers across board, especially Napoli who appears to have pulled away from their closest contenders, Ac Milan in the Serie A with a whooping eight points.

The question however is that how many of these big boys will retain the top spot come May when it all goes down?
