Recycling; A major key to sustainable cities and communities

We live in a space where everything moves so fast, and before you know it, it appears as though you’re in a trench simply because you’re either not reading enough, or you’ve ignorantly decided to be under the rocks.

Well, except of course you’re living in a world different from ours, you must have heard of the word ‘recycling’. A term which is simply an act or process that involves converting our regular wastes into new materials_ Expectedly, the UN SDGs is a firm advocate.

For the noobs, I’ll try to break this down in bite-size chunks as much as possible, that way you are well furnished. Recycling can come in various forms, as there’s pretty much nothing that can’t be recycled. Woods, plastics, Metal, Glass, Clothing items etc.

What this simply means is that most of our used items can still somewhat be reused again if only we understand the importance and good they bring to the cosmos.

Understandably, some pockets of the society might not be able to bring themselves to get the drill in one reading, but perhaps highlighting some of the benefits of recycling would help in some ways.

Why recycle?

When we recycle, it means we’re trying not to waste materials, but more importantly, we are carefully and consciously protecting our environment by doing so. Furthermore, below are some of the benefits of recycling;

* Recycling reduces the need for extracting (mining, quarrying, refining and processing raw materials all of which create substantial air and water pollution.

* It helps to conserve natural resources.

* Recycling reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators, thereby saving the air from pollution.

* It also in many ways protect the ecosystems and wildlife.

* Finally, and most importantly, it saves time, energy and money.
