Album Review: Burna’s Love Damini

Burna boy has released the much-anticipated album Love damini; while he has been receiving questionable PR for the kind of things he and his odili has been involved in recent times, we welcome this album timidly.

Love damini opens up with glory, a soul-touching song which is unlike what we are used to from Burna, and it is nice to see him try a new sound and still kill it; it is followed by Science, not such a great transition but the song doesn’t suck so that is fine.

Cloak and dagger come on next, featuring J Hus. Burna opens this track with an open show of his Yoruba speaking skills, taking good care of the Lagbaja-type beat; it is a great song to bop your head to, a typical effect of Jhus.

It continues with ‘Kilometers’ an already famous track and a much-needed dose of familiarity, and a long list of noteworthy tracks before finally closing with Love damini.

The album is a solid 9!.
