Ukraine has announced new restrictions on the use of Telegram for its government, military, and security officials, after concerns about national security risks that is associated with the app, which was created by Russian, Pavel Durov.
The National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine explained that Russia may have access to personal data and messages shared on Telegram. The app is a popular communication tool in both Ukraine and Russia, raising concerns about how it could be used against Ukraine.
In a statement on Facebook, the council said that Telegram will now be restricted in government agencies, military units, and critical infrastructure. This decision was said to be essential for national security.
The rule will not affect employees who need to use Telegram as part of their daily job activities since the app is an important communication platform for the military and government.
