Kofoworola Odozi Rising rap sensation Doechii has been honored as Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year, joining the ranks of previous recipients like Taylor Swift, SZA, and Lady Gaga. This accolade comes on the heels of her Grammy win for Best Rap Album with “Alligator Bites Never Heal,” making her only the third woman to achieve this distinction.
Doechii will be celebrated at the Billboard Women in Music Awards on March 29 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. The event, hosted by Emmy nominee Laverne Cox, will be broadcast live on VIZIO WatchFree+ at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET.
Her mixtape, “Alligator Bites Never Heal,” was lauded by The Associated Press as one of 2024’s best albums, showcasing her versatility in blending smooth R&B with sharp rap flows. Billboard’s Editor-in-Chief, Hannah Karp, praised Doechii’s unique sound, captivating stage presence, and candid lyrics.
In addition to her Grammy success, Doechii was honored as Outstanding New Artist at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, further cementing her influence in the music industry.
