President Tinubu Scraps Niger Delta Ministry and Ministry of Sports Development

Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) have announced the scrapping of the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development. This decision was made during the FEC meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, the responsibilities of the Ministry of Sports Development will now be handled by the National Sports Commission. The commission will take charge of all sports-related activities in Nigeria moving forward.

The FEC has also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, creating a single ministry to oversee both areas.
