Former US President Donald Trump Shot But Escapes Assassination Attempt
The CEO of Telegram, has been reportedly been arrested at Bourget Airport near Paris on Saturday evening, August 24.
Pavel Durov, the 39-year-old billionaire founder and CEO of the famous messaging app Telegram, was taken into custody according to TF1 TV around 8 PM local time (6 PM GMT) after arriving on his private jet.
His arrest was as a result of an active warrant in France as part of an ongoing police investigation. Durov is expected to appear in court on Sunday.
The investigation reportedly focuses on Telegram’s lack of moderation, which authorities believe has allowed criminal activity to take place on the app.
Telegram, which is known for its encryption, has close to a billion users and is especially popular in Russia, Ukraine, and other former Soviet republics. It ranks among the world’s major social media platforms alongside Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok.
