Nigeria’s D’Tigress Coach Named Best Female Basketball Coach at Paris 2024 Olympics

Rena Wakama, the head coach of Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has been named as the Best Female Basketball Coach at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced the award on Sunday.

Rena Wakama, who is 32 years old, made history by leading D’Tigress to their first-ever quarterfinals at the Olympics. The team achieved an important victory by defeating Canada 79-70.

Although their Olympic journey ended with a loss to the United States, who eventually won the tournament, D’Tigress made a lasting impression as the only African basketball team (men’s or women’s) to reach the last 16 in the competition.
