Former US President Donald Trump Shot But Escapes Assassination Attempt
Telecommunications company MTN has shut down its offices across Nigeria following an attack on one of its locations in Lagos. The incident occurred a day earlier when a group of angry individuals targeted the company’s office in the Festac area.
According to a notice posted on MTN’s X account, the company announced, “Yello customer, please be informed that our shops nationwide will be closed today, July 30th. We are available 24/7 to support you via our digital channels.”
The attack was due to the fact MTN blocked the phone numbers of subscribers who hadn’t linked their lines to their National Identity Numbers (NIN), which is required by government regulations. Videos that are circulating on social media showed a crowd vandalizing the office’s fence before entering the compound.
MTN has therefore not specified whether the closures will be temporary or indefinite.
