Nigeria’s D’Tigress Make History with Victory Over Australia at Paris 2024 Olympics

Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, began their Paris 2024 Olympics campaign with an important victory, defeating world number three, Australia.

This is a very important achievement for Nigeria, as it is their second win in the Women’s Olympic Basketball tournament. Their first win came in 2004 when they beat South Korea 68-64. This win is the D’Tigress’ first win in nine rounds.

This loss marks Australia’s second consecutive defeat in their opening game of the Women’s Olympic Basketball event. Before this, they had won six games in a row.

With this win, Nigeria has also made history by becoming the first African country to defeat Australia in a major tournament, whether it be the World Cup or the Olympics.
