Growing up in Osogbo, Layi received his elementary and secondary education in Osun State before pursuing his undergraduate degree at Bowen University. It was here that he decided to study law, inspired by the influence and support of his mother, whose guidance ensured his educational journey progressed swiftly.

In 2017, Layi burst onto the comedic scene, captivating audiences with his unique brand of humor. As a content creator, comedian, and influencer, he became very popular, particularly on platforms like TikTok, where his comedic videos captivated audiences both at home and abroad.

With over 690,000 followers on TikTok and 2 million followers on Instagram, Layi’s social media influence continues to expand, solidifying his status as a comedic sensation. His illustrious career has been adorned with numerous achievements and accolades, showcasing his profound impact on the comedic landscape.

In 2023, Layi Wasabi was honored at the Trendupp Awards, where he was recognized as the ‘Emerging Force of the Content Creating Industry.’ Additionally, he clinched the prestigious ‘Revelation of the Year’ award at the Nigeria Comedy Awards, accompanied by a prize of 1 million naira. He has also been nominated for the 2024 AMVCAs.
