President Bola Tinubu has suspended Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, due to fraud allegations against her.
The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, announced this suspension on Monday. Tinubu ordered a probe into the suspended minister following allegations that a sum of N585 million was paid into a private account.
In the statement, Ngelale explained that President Tinubu instructed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to thoroughly investigate the financial transactions of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
For the time being, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation will take over from Dr. Betta Edu.
