Immigration Launches Online Passport Application Portal Today

The Minister of Interior, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, will launch the inaugural online portal for passport applications today.

Applicants, both in Nigeria and abroad, will now have the flexibility to access this portal for their passport applications.

The Minister disclosed this much-anticipated launch date during a demonstration of the portal last Friday, alongside Caroline Adepoju, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Tunji-Ojo had previously announced in December that the federal government was 99% on the brink of achieving complete automation of the passport application process. This innovative system will facilitate the upload of passport photographs and supporting documents.

For Nigerian applicants opting for the 32-page passports with a validity of five years, the fee stands at N25,000, while those seeking the 64-page passports valid for 10 years will be charged N70,000. As for foreign applicants, the fee for a 32-page passport with a five-year validity period is $130, whereas the 64-page passport with a 10-year validity period comes at a fee of $230.

Tunji-Ojo emphasized that all applicants must submit their applications through the official portal at https://passport.immigration.gov.ng.
