In Focus: Bernardo bags brace as City stroll to UCL final

Manchester City hosted defending Champions Real Madrid in what was a highly anticipated Semi final second leg. After playing out a one all draw at the Bernebau in the first leg, the game was quite finely poised.

However, if anyone predicted how closely contested the match would pan out, all of that was let out of the window as City ran riot from the word go. The boys in Sky blue put up a lightning start and in a matter of minutes they got their noses in front through Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva who expertly curled his effort beyond Courtouis after some decent play from Kevin De bruyne.

Every single City player put in a great shift, and not even the substitutes put a foot wrong as Alvarez and Foden, both second half substitutes combined to put the game to bed for a four-goal smashing of the Madristas.

Guardiola is a genius

Once again, Pep’s masterclass was on full display and not even an Ancelotti set up could disrupt this well oiled City team. The Spaniard lined up his side just as he’s done these past few weeks with John Stones playing a pivot alongside the ever present Rodri.

That way, it was certain that any Madrid pressure to build a link up play through Modric and Kroos were strangulated. Both players were pretty much isolated for most of the match and were hooked at some point in the second half.

Bernardo is a little wizard 

One might wonder what happened to Mahrez, Well, Bernardo Silva happened to him. This diminutive little trickster has been immense all season, and although talks of a move from Etihad hasn’t gone away, he’s yet managed to remain focused and keep plugging away.

Last night, he proved his worth again, and on a very important night for the Cityzens.

City could roast Inter Milan 

Well, this one won’t sit well with the blue and blacks, and maybe it’s a bit off the hook given they had nothing to do with this Semi final match, but considering both sides will be clashing in Istanbul very soon, it might just be about time they started looking after their shoulders.

Albeit the final isn’t at the Etihad and both sides will have their fans well represented, but If City replicate this sort of display in the final, then I’m afraid Inter Milan would stand no chance. They will most likely be roasted.
