2023 Elections: Are you the problem of Nigeria?

The run-up to the 2023 general elections has been unprecedented. For the first time since our democracy’s restoration, the youth have taken the lead in the mission to reclaim Nigeria from corrupt, incompetent, and visionless leadership at all levels.

We may have wondered why, in the last 24 years, democracy hasn’t brought us much more than a sense of freedom. We can legitimately assert that democracy has become less participatory over the last 24 years, with low voter turnout even in off-season elections.

Nigeria now has a total of 96.2 million registered voters.

However, experience has shown that more people register than collect their PVCs. On June 13, 2022, INEC lamented the fact that there were more than 20 million unclaimed voter cards in its offices across the country.

Let us defeat the congenital election riggers who have tarnished our country with rigged leadership recruitment processes. Let us first defeat these principalities and powers, vote buyers, by defeating voter apathy. It is not the time for the media to lament. It is time to get involved.
