Taraba Governor’s Sister Shot During Gunmen Attack

Atsi Kefas, the sister of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, was accidentally shot by a police officer during an attack by gunmen on Thursday. The incident happened along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

According to reports from Zagazola Makama, a publication focused on counter-insurgency in the Lake Chad region, Atsi was traveling with her mother, Jumai Kefas, when their vehicle was ambushed by gunmen.

During the attack, a police officer assigned to protect the family mistakenly shot Atsi while trying to fend off the attackers.

Troops quickly arrived at the scene, rescuing the victims and evacuating them with an air ambulance. Atsi Kefas was taken to the hospital for treatment, but her current condition has not been disclosed.

Security forces later recovered the assailants’ vehicle, along with an empty magazine and passenger luggage left inside. Investigations are ongoing.
