The Canadian government has refused to grant visas to Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and several senior military officials.
General Musa revealed this on Thursday at a lecture organized by the National Association of the Institute for Security Studies (AANISS) in Abuja.
He described the visa denial as both embarrassing and disappointing. He was supposed to travel to Canada for an event honoring injured military veterans, but only half of his team received visas, while the others were denied.
“Every disappointment is a blessing,” Musa said. “It’s very disappointing, but it reminds us that Nigeria must stand on its own and be strong as a nation.”
So far, Canada has not given any official reason for rejecting the visa applications.
