Kofoworola Odozi Residents of Nkalaha community in Ebonyi State are fleeing their homes after a brutal attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen left at least 17 people dead. The assailants targeted Amagu, Amaokwe, and Umunesha villages in Ishielu Local Government Area, killing villagers, burning homes, and leaving many injured. Several people remain missing.
Community leaders, including Nkalaha President General Donatus Eze, expressed shock, stating that efforts to resolve tensions had been ongoing before the attack. Local officials, including Senator Kenneth Eze and Rep. Joseph Nwobasi, condemned the killings, calling for swift justice and better security.
Governor Francis Nwifuru has ordered security forces to protect the area, urging residents to remain calm. However, fear grips the community as survivors continue to evacuate, fearing another assault.
