Six Key Highlights of Tinubu’s Visit to Enugu

 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made a one-day official visit to Enugu State on January 5, 2025, at the invitation of Governor Peter Mbah. This visit marked his first official trip in the new year, underscoring the significance of the Southeast region. Below are six notable highlights from the visit:

1. First Visit of 2025: Tinubu’s visit is the first official call of the President in 2025, emphasizing the importance of the Southeast to his administration.
2. Inauguration of Key Projects: Tinubu inaugurated several major projects, including the GTC Smart Green School, the New Haven/Bisalla Road, the International Conference Centre, and the Command-and-Control Centre. Additionally, 150 patrol vehicles equipped with surveillance cameras were presented to enhance security.
3. Commitment to Eastern Rail Line: The President reiterated his commitment to completing the Eastern Rail line, which will connect Port Harcourt to Maiduguri. The Port Harcourt-Aba section has already been completed.
4. Support for Anambra Basin Energy Development: Tinubu expressed his administration’s support for the development of the Anambra Basin as a significant energy reserve, which holds substantial amounts of oil and gas resources.
5. Engagement with Southeast Leaders: Tinubu met with a variety of Southeast leaders, actively listening to their concerns and fostering dialogue.
6. Message of Unity: In his address, the President emphasized national unity, saying, “We are all members of one huge family called Nigeria, but we live in different rooms in the same house. We must build this house to satisfy our immediate and future needs.” This reaffirmed his role as a unifier of the diverse regions of Nigeria.
