Former US President Donald Trump Shot But Escapes Assassination Attempt
A strange viral outbreak in China is putting pressure on hospitals and causing people to wear face masks again. Videos shared on social media show crowded hospital wards, long lines of parents with sick children, and patients wearing masks in tightly packed spaces.
There are also unverified reports that crematoriums and funeral homes are struggling to keep up, raising fears and reminding many of the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Local news reports suggest the outbreak might be caused by human metapneumovirus (HMPV). This virus usually causes mild cold-like symptoms, but health officials in China have not confirmed this as the cause of the current outbreak.
This situation is similar to what happened last winter, when cases of mycoplasma pneumonia, also called “white lung,” started among children. Experts believe that the prolonged lockdowns and school closures during the pandemic may have weakened children’s immune systems, making them more vulnerable to such infections.
