Barcelona legend, Andrés Iniesta, one of the greatest midfielders in football history, has officially announced his retirement. The 40-year-old football legend, who was a key part of Barcelona’s most successful era, made the announcement on Tuesday.
Iniesta spent 22 years playing at the top level, winning every major trophy with both Barcelona and the Spanish national team. He is known for his graceful style of play and his humble personality, which made fans love him him all over the world.
On Monday, Iniesta shared a message on his social media account, X (formerly known as Twitter).
He wrote in Spanish, “El Juego Continúa 08|10|2024,” which means “The game continues” in English. Along with the message, he posted a two-minute video looking back on his career.
Iniesta’s retirement marks the end of an era, but his influence on football will be remembered for years to come.
