Former US President Donald Trump Shot But Escapes Assassination Attempt
Donald Trump, the former U.S. president and Republican candidate for the 2024 election, has been the target of what the FBI has called an “attempted assassination” at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The incident occurred on Sunday, just nine weeks after Trump survived another attempt on his life.
Trump has confirmed that he is safe and unharmed. The authorities have a man in custody in connection with the attack.
Secret Service agents stationed nearby noticed a gun sticking out of the bushes, about 400 yards from where Trump was playing golf. The gun was an AK-style rifle. One of the agents fired at the suspect, causing him to drop the rifle and run away in an SUV. The suspect left behind two backpacks, a scope, and a GoPro camera along with the rifle.
This is not the first attempt on Trump’s life during his 2024 campaign. On July 13, Trump was grazed by a bullet during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Just eight days after that incident, President Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race, making Vice President Kamala Harris the Democratic nominee.
