Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh Assassinated in Tehran

Hamas’s political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, has been reportedly assassinated in Tehran, Iran’s capital. The group that governs Gaza announced his death, blaming Israel for the attack.

According to the statement, Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed in the early hours of Wednesday. The building they were staying in was hit, resulting in their deaths. Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, on Tuesday.

As of now, Israel has not confirmed nor denied any involvement in Haniyeh’s assassination.
