Oyo State Unveils Free Health Insurance for 10,000 Primary School Pupils

The Oyo State Government has announced plans to provide free health insurance for 10,000 primary school pupils. This programme, led by the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), will help children get medical care and stay healthy for better learning.

Dr. Sola Akande, head of OYSHIA, said the agency will soon begin enrolling selected pupils. Each school will choose 50 pupils, ensuring children from different areas benefit. The programme aims to reduce sickness-related school absences and improve education.

Dr. Nureni Adeniran of OyoSUBEB praised the initiative and said other states could learn from it. The health insurance will cover check-ups, treatment, and preventive care.

Parents must help with the registration process, with schools providing guidance. This initiative supports both health and education, securing a better future for Oyo State’s children.
