Benue Assembly Removes Chief Judge Over Alleged Misconduct

The Benue State House of Assembly has approved the removal of the state’s Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Maurice Ikpambese, over allegations of financial misconduct and abuse of office.

During a plenary session, lawmakers discussed petitions accusing Justice Ikpambese of actions that could harm the integrity of the judiciary. After reviewing the allegations, the Assembly decided to remove him from office.

To ensure that the state’s judicial system continues to function smoothly, the lawmakers directed that the next most senior judge be sworn in as the acting Chief Judge. This arrangement will remain in place while further investigations into the allegations continue.
