Ex-Convict Arrested for Theft Days After Being Pardoned by Osun Governor

A former inmate, Sunday Omisakin, has been arrested for theft just eight days after being pardoned by the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Omisakin was released on December 26, 2024, as part of the governor’s list of pardons for minor offences. But, on January 3, 2025, he was accused of breaking into a house in Osogbo and stealing a plasma television that is worth N600,000.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Kayode Adeoye, told the court that the incident happened around 12 p.m. in the Al-Medinat area of Iludun, Osogbo. Omisakin allegedly broke into the home of Shittu Damilare to steal the television.

Omisakin appeared before Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba at the Osun State Magistrate Court in Osogbo. He pleaded not guilty but was denied bail. The magistrate ordered that he should be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Facility and adjourned the case to January 10, 2025.

The court has then set February 2025 for the hearing of the case.
